20/05/2013 15:19: Funding Boost for Worplesdon Parochial Church CouncilWorplesdon Parochial Church Council is today celebrating the news that it has received a £19,196.00 funding boost from SITA Trust for their project "St Mary's Bells Repairs ".
Funding will allow the repair of cracked bell, headstocks, bearings and running gears in St Mary's Church.
John Collier (Tower Captain at St Mary’s and project instigator) says that “The PCC is extremely grateful for the support that the SITA Trust has given that has enabled us to proceed with the major works to the bells much earlier than perhaps anticipated. The bells have now been taken to Nicholson Engineering in Bridport, Dorset for the repairs to be carried out and will be returned in early July”.
Marek Gordon CEO and Chairman of SITA Trust added “We are delighted to have been able to support this project through the Landfill Communities Fund. This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.2 billion.”
